Hospitals

Hospitals can be useful bus interchange points because:

So it can be convenient and pleasant to change buses at a hospital instead of a Bus Station.

Lower down this page we describe useful changes that can be made at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy and Forth Valley Royal Hospital Falkirk - but first a discussion on choosing which hospital to go to if you actually need their services:

Did you know that if you have a "Minor Injury" you may get faster treatment by going to St Andrews Community Hospital than by going to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for example.

That's because the X58 takes just 32 minutes to get to St Andrews Community Hospital from Leven Bus Station compared with 36 minutes to Victoria Hospital on the 7 or longer taking an express to Kirkcaldy and changing there.

But, you might find the queue in St Andrews shorter. And the 07:45 weekday X58 may be a useful service to use as it gets you to St Andrews Community Hospital at 08:17 soon after the Minor Injuries service has opened for the day...

It's even more sensible to choose to go to St Andrews Community Hospital if you live around Letham Glen, Scoonie, Lundin Links or Upper Largo as you can catch the X58 after it has left Leven Bus Station.

The Adamson Hospital in Cupar also has a Minor Injuries Service - and the local 68 bus from Moffat & Williamson connects Cupar with the hospital - but getting there from Leven is generally slower than waiting for an X58 to St Andrews Community Hospital or a 7 to Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy.

Cameron Hospital on the outskirts of Leven does not have a Minor Injuries Service or anything like that...

The X58 bus from Leven arrives at stop (X) around 3 minutes before it is due at St Andrews Bus Station - use stop (Y) to return to Leven - the X58 calls here 2 or 3 minutes after leaving St Andrews Bus Station. The 90/90A/91/91A/93/93A Stagecoach local services to St Andrews Bus Station  use stops (V) and (W) - the Moffat & Williamson local services to St Andrews South Street and the 64 to Ceres and Cupar and the 95 to Crail and the East Neuk depart from stop (Z).

Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy can also sometimes be a useful interchange point for changing between a 7 or 46 and an X27 for Glasgow - changing buses is a simple matter of crossing the road to catch the bus in the opposite direction: Google Streetview of Victoria Hospital.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital near Falkirk can be reached on the route to Glasgow from Leven.

FVRH can be used as a travel interchange for getting to Stirling, Bannockburn, Falkirk and Linlithgow by changing to a McGill's East Scotland Service 38. (McGill's recently took over the First Bus operations in this area.)
