The Travel Shop at St Andrews Bus Station is only open:
Monday to Thursday 10:00-12:30 and 13:30-16:00
Friday 10:00-12:30 and 13:30-15:00
There is a Live Departure Board for the main stances at St Andrews Bus Station at: https://bustimes.org/stations/650GN9501
Stance 1 - 99 - Dundee
Stance 2 - 95, X58 and X60 to Leven - via Crail, Anstruther, Largo etc and the 65 to Perth - but check Stance 3 as well...
Stance 3 - X24 to Glasgow and X59 to Edinburgh - but check Stance 2 in case the bus is there...
Stance 4 - 90/90A/91/91A - local services within St Andrews - all go to the Community Hospital and Morrisons (but the X58 is quicker)
Petheram Bridge Car Park - the Moffat & Williamson 63 and M65 to Cupar and on to Glenrothes and or Newburgh
Sometimes a departing bus will not find a stance available - in which case it may pull up at the marked "Drop Off Zone" while the driver gets out to call for any waiting passengers...
St Andrews Bus Station can get quite busy, sometimes there are more buses than will fit on the stances.
Often arriving buses will drop passengers at Stance 5 and then wait away from the stances until their departure is due.
Beware that from service to Newburgh have changed and now there is a semi-express 65 run by Stagecoach which travels on to Perth and a slower 63 that goes via most of the places on the old 94 route run by Moffat & Williamson - but ends up in Glenrothes rather than Newburgh - although once there it turns into an M36 which travels on to Newburgh - and in the evening an M65 run by Moffat & Williamson which is a compromise semi-fast route to Newburgh. Stagecoach tickets are accepted on the M65 and M36. And Moffat & Williamson tickets are accepted on the 65 between Newburgh and Perth. More details on our Substack blog: https://95crailbus.substack.com/p/new-newburgh-timetables and https://95crailbus.substack.com/p/shared-ticketing-between-glenrothes
Often a bus wanting to wait on Stance 2 or 3 will find that there is a bus already there and will have to use another stance instead...
If you are travelling to Leven then the X58 is by far the quickest service (35 minutes travel time) - if you miss the X58 then it's usually worth catching an X60 (1 hour 5 minutes travel time) but the 95 is much slower (around 1 hour 40 minutes travel time) and it's generally worth waiting for an X58 as long as there is one due within the next hour...
When Schooldays return there is also an MD15 that runs from City Road at Alexandra Place (walk out of the Bus Station turn right, cross two roads at the roundabout and walk down to the next bus stop) - the New Madras College has different school timetables on different days so the MD15 passes at different times and as it takes a slow route to Leven it's usually quicker to wait for an X58 from the Bus Station (as the X58 is a Limited Stop service and from 29th July 2024 does not stop on City Road) - a New Madras special version of the 95 terminating at Pinkerton Road in Crail will also pass this stop at around the same time as the MD15 - if you are going for either of these buses make sure you catch the right one....

The hourly Moffat & Williamson service 92 to Balmullo, Tayport and Newport departs from a different stop in City Road - out of the Bus Station and turn left.
Another useful Moffat & Williamson service is the 64 to Strathkinness, Ceres and beyond - this uses a stop on South Street as its St Andrews terminus.
Since the move of Madras College to its new site the bus stop on South Street has been renamed as "Blackfriars" after the ruined medieval chapel.

Typically (midweek, mid-day) there are now 3 sensible direct buses to Cupar every hour - the X59, the X24 and now also the 65 - if the expresses are having problems then the 63 may be your saviour - it departs from the stop in the car park along the footpath at the other side of the bus station from the usual stances.
